Yoga and Christianity both have many things in common. Both are extremely popular and both have gained enormous popularity over the years. In fact, it would be safe to say that no other form of exercise has gained as much popularity over the years as has yoga class. It is a very interesting correlation, one that you may not have previously considered.

 

The first thing to consider is this: when we refer to “Yoga,” many people instantly think of a form of exercise. Specifically, they think of practicing asana and meditation. But yoga is much more than those two things. It is a complete system of thought and life, and was founded upon the study of ancient Hinduism. The word derives from the word “yuj” which means “to unite,” “to control,” “to discipline,” and “to control human destiny.”

 

As such, we can understand the concept behind the differences between Christian based yoga classes in a much more complete manner. While yoga can certainly help you to become physically fit and healthier, in the hands of someone who has a strong spiritual belief system and who believes in the separation of God and the devil, the benefits of practicing yoga on your own are endless. The ultimate benefit, however, will come when you join a yoga class not based upon religion, but instead based upon reason and understanding.
